Instrument played: Bass Trombone Casey has won trophies from Hillsdale for most outstanding instrumentalist, musician and service and dedication. He has 6 superior soloist awards and 4 excellent soloist awards. He has been in middle school Honor Band twice and High School Honor Band. He has played professionally in a local symphony. He attributes much of his music training to his middle school director Mr. Caldwell and to his private teacher, Tim Nicholas. “He has really helped me become a good musician”. Casey’s advice to young musicians: “stick with it, always practice, have fun, try out different instruments in the same musical family and enjoy yourself”. With his baseball cap, goatee and good looks Casey’s personality is infectious and captivating. He plans to attend Cuyamaca College and then transfer to SDSU. His likes are music and enjoy being a part of bands. “I can’t stand rap and hip-hop!” Singing is a big part of his life and when not performing with The Jazz Ensemble he is off singing with the Cuyamaca College Choir. “I am greatly honored to have become part of this group. I can’t wait to see how much I can get out of this band”. This is a young man with dedication and discipline, his Bass Trombone playing gives the band its fat, beefy sound Other musicians admire his playing and feel he contributes greatly to the quality of The Jazz Ensemble.
