Other instruments played:
Soprano Sax, Alto
Sax, Bari Sax and the Didgeridoo Chris likes big band jazz because he likes the sound and the melodies. The music is challenging and he enjoys playing with a group. He plans to attend Berklee College of Music and get his degree in saxophone performance. “I have a passion for music and I like good food. I love to perform on stage and play the saxophone everyday.” Memorable performances up to now include playing on stage with Rockola in the Summer in the Parks Concert Series in the San Diego area, CA All State and CA All Southern Honor Band performances for several years now, playing on stage at Dizzy’s of San Diego with David Negrete. Chris’ influences on the saxophone are: Gerard Nolan, David Negrete, Keith Jacobson, Tom Politzer, John Coltrane, Michael Brecker, Jim Weiss and Steve Stienberg. “Private lessons and practice are the keys to success for playing any musical instrument and never give up!” is the advice Chris would give to any young musician starting out. Chris keeps an intense practice and lesson schedule. He practices 2 hours per day – seven days a week – no holidays, and takes 2 hours of private instruction from 2 different instructors every week. |
