Nickname: Jake or
axe man When asked what he likes about big band jazz, Jake replied: “I love that groove that you sink into when you swing just the right way.” Jakes is planning to attend the Air Force Academy after graduation. He considers himself a fun loving person who loves to play almost every kind of music, and is a “firm believer of Jesus Christ”. Jake says his first solo award was very surprising and was very exciting. He considers his influences in music to be his parents and fellow band members. Jake’s advice to another young musician just start out is “the better you get the more fun you have. And to get better you need to learn the basics. And the basics are the scales and rhythms.
This young artist recently joined the
jazz ensemble. He came to a rehearsal as a substitute and played
so well that he was invited back and asked to become a permanent
member of the ensemble. His contributions to the sax section help
define the sound of the band. This young man is an asset to the
group and not only professional in his approach to the music but
conscientious in doing the best he can to better the band. Jake
Austel another driving force behind the Jazz Ensemble. |
