Nickname: J Jo Favorite music, groups, composer, artists: Radiohead, Deerhoof, Curtis Mayfield, Django, Mingus, Coltrane, Holiday, Louis Prima, Animal Collective, Tord Gustavsen Trio. Jordon says “SCPA and the people within have been the biggest influences to me musically. From teachers like Tamara Paige and Bill Doyle to the students; to the endless performances and experiences we’ve all shared”. Jordon plans to attend UC Berkeley upon graduation Jordon says that in big band “interactive improvisation meets organized orchestration” Then further states “Yes, I just made that up….catchy, I know!” He likes living life and being himself and is often found keeping it real. His advice to a young musician: “have fun, don’t quit!” Jordon says of the Jazz Ensemble “the musicians blow me away; everyone has a great attitude and spirit” When the incredible young guitarist picks up his instrument and starts playing there is a hush as everyone around takes in the voicing and sounds of his chords and melodies. “His solo work is amazing” is heard frequently and there is often of a murmur wondering what he’ll play next. He fills out the rhythm section with his full interpretive style and sensitive playing. Considered one of the bands greatest assets he is a young man with a great future.
