Nickname: Roach “Roach” is one of the Jazz Ensembles most dedicated and improved musicians. He likes big band jazz because “its fun and I get to improve all the time”. He plans to attend college at Berkeley or UCSD. A quiet unassuming personality you can see Roach is always thinking and learning. When asked to describe himself he says “I’m Roach, nothing more needs to be said”. But there is more to say, he has won several classical piano competitions and performs constantly. He credits his teacher, Lee Galloway for giving him good musical sense, style, determination, technique and the dexterity needed to play at the accomplished level he now maintains. His advice to another young musician just starting out is “Don’t be so afraid to play wrong notes” that’s the way you learn to improvise. Roach has performed several solo selections at the Jazz Ensemble “The Piano Concerts” Another talented young artist. |
