Matt Davies
Trumpet

Nickname: Matt
Instrument: Trumpet
Other instruments played: Baritone, Guitar, and Soprano Trombone
Years Played: 6
Age: 17
Favorite Word: Scratch that!
School: Torrey Pines High School
Hobbies: Spirited drives, snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking, and toilet papering houses.
Favorite music, groups, composers and artists: The Avalanches, Youngblood Brass Band, Frank Sinatra, Basement Jaxx, DJ Format, Booka Shade, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, The Christian McBride Band.

Matt’s future plans include majoring in communications as well as earning an MBA.  He would like to start his own business. When asked where he plans to attend college he responds “far away” and describes himself as a “tall punkass with braces”.  There is no question that Matt is a rebel and one of the most talented young musicians around.  His advice to younger musicians is “learn you scales, they’re good for you”.  His likes are vitamins!

Matt’s favorite quotes are “man who stand on top of mountain with mouth open will wait long time for roast duck to fall in” Confucius.  “Those who are good for excuses are seldom good for anything else” Benjamin Franklin.  “On the Plains of Hesitation lie the blackened bones of countless millions, who, at the dawn of victory sat down to rest, and resting, died.”

Just releasing his first CD this is one dynamic musical force to be watched and followed--on the cusp of greatness, Matt Davies.
