Conatct:
ncenter@hightechhigh.org Nathaniel says that big band music is fun to play. He plans to attend Manhattan School of Music. He likes people that are open to new things, being creative and being spontaneous. “I dislike stress, conceited people and taking things too seriously.” Nathaniel studies with John Reynolds and Gilbert Castellanos. His advice to another young musician just starting out: “Don’t give up and always relax”! You can go to his link www.myspace.com/nathanielcentertrumpet for more information about this remarkable talent. Nathaniel likes to sit in with as many bands as possible and he is constantly found at jam sessions around San Diego. He plays with the Point Loma Nazarene Big Band and combo, Youth Symphony, Brass Choir, Youth Sinfonia, Youth Symphony Stage Band and El Sufisto Gypsy Jazz Band. He is looking forward to starting his own combo soon.
Director’s comment: From the first
note I heard Nathaniel play I knew immediately that there was
something special about this young man. He is disciplined,
dedicated and focused. He has a quiet and unassuming personality,
but he is extremely professional and always well prepared at
rehearsals. When a musician says I am going to go to New York and
play music I often feel that that young artist is out of touch
with reality, but in Nathaniel’s case, if he says he’s going to do
it, then on your next trip to New York find out where you can hear
him play because he’ll be there making music. |
