tbauckman@cox.net Tim says he likes the energy and unique sound of big band jazz. His guitar style is a unique sound as well and contributes to the magical sound of the Jazz Ensemble. He can comp like a Freddy Green or voice and fill like Wes Montgomery. Tim is in the process of deciding what Colleges and Universities he would like to attend upon graduation. He is planning to visit different campuses and attend Jazz Camps this summer to become more familiar with various programs they offer. Tim lives music and attending various concerts to hear different groups perform is his favorite hobby. He likes to travel to new places to see and experience other parts of the country, the people, food and music. He enjoys movies and playing Club and High School soccer. He considers himself a “pretty easy going person”, but right now dislikes chemistry and rush hour traffic. His awards are numerous for solo and musicianship from High School Competitions. Tim was selected as a member of the SCSBOA (Southern California Symphony, Band and Orchestra Association) Honor Jazz Band in 2008. He also received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award that same year. One of his most memorable performances was at Disneyland with the SCSBOA Honors Jazz Band. www.SCSBOA.org He credits teachers Colin McAllister and Nathan Jarrell along with his High School band director Brandon Jagow for getting him on the right track musically. Tim says his greatest influences are “my family, friends, teachers and role models”.
Tim’s advice to another young musician
just starting out is “I would say practice leads to more
appreciation for music and your instrument. If you are going to
study and play jazz then you must listen to all types of jazz
artists to hear and learn this style of music." |
